Sipadan Water Village is located off the coast of Sabah, Malaysia on the island of Borneo and is a 15 minute boat ride from the famed island of Sipadan, the jewel of Malaysia! Sipadan Island is a world heritage site.
Sipadan Water Village is a resort beautifully constructed with Bajau architectural design. Part of the Mabul Island is also home to groups of Bajau fishermen who have built their traditional palm thatched houses. The Bajau Laut, the world’s only tribe of nomadic sea gypsies spends their lives on the water. Over the years, some have entered a transition from sea nomadic to sedentary village life at a former major anchorage site such as Mabul.
The diving around the islands of Sipadan, Mabul, and Kapalai off the coast of Sabah, Malaysia on the island of Borneo is some of the best in the world. Large schools of barracuda, jacks, bump head parrot fish, turtles, and sharks are just a few of some of the larger marine life seen on almost every dive!
