Diving Bintan Island – Easy from Singapore
Singapore is normally known for great food, shopping and business. For years we have been asked about diving in and around Singapore while passing thru. Now adding diving during business trip or layover is easy.
Thanks to owners of well known Indonesian resorts of Tasik Ria Resort in Manado, North Sulawesi and Derawan Dive Lodge in Kalimantan. They has opened another dive center on Bintan Island, Indonesia, which is only an hour by ferry from Singapore.
Our small and cozy dive center, Tasik Divers Bintan is located in the Trikora area on the island of Bintan, part of the Riau Islands, only an hour by ferry from Singapore. Trikora is our home base and gateway to a number of dive sites off the east coast of Bintan Island, only a 15 minutes boat ride away.
Diving at Bintan Island includes healthy coral reefs and sandy bottom. It is home to many reef fish, schooling fish, cuttlefish, octopi and turtles with both soft and hard corals.
Diving on Bintan Island is usually done in small groups from speedboats. They dive both nearby sites as well as further out to Mapur Island. Most sites are about a 15 minutes boat ride away. Surface intervals for the morning dives are often done on nearby islands or on comfortable “kelongs” (houses on stilts above the water) in the area. Typically they do 2 dives in the morning before returning to the resort for lunch. If a 3rd dive or night dive is booked, they return to the resort after each such dive. This means you get to enjoy and relax as much as possible in between your dives!
How to get there:
The resort is about an hour’s drive away from the Bintan Resort Ferry Terminal at Teluk Sebung and less than an hour’s drive from Tanjung Pinang, the main city of Bintan Island.
